The digital change caused by the pandemic in various industries, combined with technological progress, has brought with it a change in the skills required by various business functions. Most In-demand Jobs Overall Remain Consistent:

Changes in the workforce have left many industries facing labor shortages, but the jobs in the highest demand prior to COVID still rank highly.

The jobs with the most overall demand in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to LinkedIn posts were:

·         Software engineer

·         JavaScript developer

·         Salesperson

·         Registered nurse

·         Java Software Engineer

Of these, only nursing was new to the list during the pandemic.

Of the top 10, the only job that entered the list in quarter four was driver, which came in at ninth most in-demand. As the fourth quarter is the holiday season, shopping and e-commerce likely contributed to the heightened demand for drivers.

The top 5 jobs with the fastest-growing demand over the period according to jobs post were:

·         Data scientist

A data scientist may use statistical methods to predict future trends, find patterns in large datasets, or build models using machine learning algorithms.

The Data science has integrated to Machine learning, Artificial intelligent, NLP and Computer vision.

Organisations are actively hiring data scientists with Programming, Data Visualization, and Machine Learning skills to assist them in making data-driven business decisions.

In view of this huge demand, data scientists can look to earn a base salary that is 36 percent higher than most professionals in the analytics industry.

Ideally, an entry-level Data Scientist in India earns between 5-7 lakhs per annum, 12-15 lakh per annum at the mid-level, and can go as high as 21-25 lakh/annum at the senior level.

·         Cyber security Specialist

A cyber-security specialist is someone who specializes in the protection of computer networks and data from malicious attacks. A cyber-security specialist may work for a company or government agency. Candidates in Cloud Computing earn 6-8 lakhs/annum at entry-level, 10-12 lakhs/annum at mid-level and 30 lakhs/annum at senior level. Some seasoned experts in the domain can earn up to 70 lakhs/annum.

·         Full stack developer

Recent reports show there has been a 20 percent spike in demand for Full-Stack Developers in India.

Professionals equipped with the knowledge of front-end and back-end development, Version control system, coding skills, cloud and database skills along with fluency in Python, Java, CSS, Ruby on Rails, and other coding languages, can expect high-paying jobs from startups and top MNCs with 5-6 lakhs/annum at entry-level, 8-10 lakhs/annum at mid-level and 10-12 lakhs/annum at senior level.
